A new store cupboard saviour that takes the grind out of sauce making

We love to work with people who are as passionate about great food as we are and if it is a small, friendly, family run firm like Steenberg's that is also committed to ethical sourcing and trading, so much the better.

Axel Steenberg and his wife Sophie are pioneers of Fairtrade spices and they provide us with not one but three types of peppercorns for our Peppercorn Sauce. Fairtrade organic black peppercorns impart a flavour that is bold rich, warm and dark. Organic pink pepper has a delicate, sweet, warm, fresh and pine-like aroma, coupled with an intriguing deep pinky-red colour. Add ethically traded green peppercorns and you have a deliciously aromatic and winning trio of one of the world's most popular and ubiquitous spices.

We have added Axel and Sophie's pungent and peppery trio to single cream, shallots, water, cornflower and vegetable stock to make a truly authentic pour over sauce that you can store in the cupboard ready to perk up all manner of dishes. It is particularly good with pan fried chicken, or its most famous partner, fillet of beef.
